Why do you need a voltage reducer?
If you want to add electric powered accessories like lights, horns and radios and you have a 48 volt golf cart you need a voltage reducer. Most electrical accessories are 12 volt powered and each battery in a 48 volt system is 8 volts each. You can either buy a solid state 48 to 12 volt reducer or a 16 to 12 volt reducer. The solid state 48 volt reducer will use the current from all 6 of the 8 volt batteries and the 16 to 12 volt reducer uses the current from just two of the 8 volt batteries.

A solid state 36 to 12 volt reducer will provide 12 volts to your electrical accessories from all of your batteries providing a more even discharge of your battery pack.
