Desulphate ''What does this mean".....and what happens. A lot of you do not realize that if you desulphate your batteries you can gain 1 to 3 years of extra life. If your batteries are totally destroyed, then of course throw them away. In most cases, 60-90% of the batteries can not only be saved, but 1-3 years can be added to their life.
The cooler the climate the more years you can get out of your battery pack. EXAMPLE: If you live in the top states were the weather is cooler then the south expect almost double your battery life period. Use this charger/desulphater on a brand new set and increase your life up to 100% more. If you pay $550 for a set of Trojans then expect to save $225.00 on your life cycle.

Your batteries build up sulphur on their plates which causes the batteries to lose power and not fully charge. Some batteries will not desulphate because they have been abused and not charged properly. Most all batteries (35-60%) will desulphate to a certain percent unless they are ruined.

You are using 6 batteries and most of the time they will come back and desulphate enough to give you another year or so of use. Sometimes you have to throw a battery or two away and replace it with a used one or two. All you need is a total of 48 volts... you can use 8 6volt batteries to turn some of those dead batteries that you have back into service. You may not only bring back some old batteries but you may save enough money to pay for your charger many times over. DO NOT throw your old batteries away until you have desulphated them and then rechecked them for reservice.  There is a good chance that you can turn many batteries back into service. Again, as long as you have a total of 48 volts you can use this charger. You can mix and match 6, 8, 12 batteries to make up the 48 volts.

Most chargers will not come on unless there is about 80-90 percent charge left for the battery charger to be able to turn it on. The LV4800 charger will come on and charge with a very small amount of electricity in the batteries.
